About the Artist
Donna was born and raised in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania, and currently resides just outside of Harrisburg in the rolling hills of Central PA. She spends her days gardening, hanging out with her children and grandchildren, and of course painting. Whenever possible she and her husband, Hank, travel the country seeking out natural beauty and connection with this amazing earth.

Before starting a painting, I choose background music and spend time choosing colors that resonate. This moment will never come again, so each choice of color, line and texture is unique to this painting.

I do not sketch or use photos. I jump right in with large gesture marks that start the creative journey. I use many different tools, sometimes painting with my eyes closed to simply feel the motion.

At this moment, I have no idea where the canvas will take me. As the painting evolves, I start to see the story it is trying to tell and follow it, continuing to let it lead me to its conclusion.
